Contour TRL™ is a fully ablative erbium laser resurfacing treatment designed for advanced correction of wrinkles, deep lines, significant sun damage, uneven texture, and other visible signs of aging. Unlike fractional treatments that leave areas of skin untouched, TRL precisely removes damaged skin to a customized depth, creating a controlled resurfacing injury that stimulates regeneration and collagen remodeling. Treatment depth can be tailored to the individual, from lighter resurfacing to more aggressive correction. What makes Contour TRL different from fractional resurfacing?

Fractional lasers create microscopic treatment zones while leaving surrounding skin intact. Contour TRL is fully ablative, meaning the entire treated surface can be precisely resurfaced to a controlled depth. This allows for more aggressive correction of advanced damage

Is Contour TRL similar to CO₂ resurfacing?

Both are ablative resurfacing technologies, but Contour TRL uses a 2940 nm erbium:YAG laser, which has extremely high absorption in water. This allows tissue to be removed with exceptional depth control and less residual thermal injury than traditional CO₂ resurfacing.

How many treatments do I need?

Contour TRL is generally performed when the goal is substantial correction from a single treatment rather than a series of lighter procedures. The appropriate depth depends on the severity of damage, desired outcome, and acceptable recovery time

Is everyone a candidate for Contour TRL?

No. Contour TRL is an intensive ablative resurfacing procedure and requires a thorough consultation before treatment. Skin type, medical history, medications, previous procedures, healing history, lifestyle, degree of damage, and ability to follow strict pre- and post-care instructions are all considered before determining candidacy.

Will I be prepared for the recovery?

Contour TRL requires a genuine commitment to healing. The early recovery involves intensive wound care, swelling, redness, and significant social downtime. Patients must be willing and able to follow detailed aftercare instructions and attend required follow-up appointments. This is not a treatment to schedule around an important event or when adequate recovery time is unavailable.
